Graphite Paintings in Zephyrhills, FL
My vision, in its complexity aspires to a kind of clarity of nature to the viewer. My graphite paintings in Zephyrhills, Florida, are scenes of dense stands of sub-tropical forests, dominated by Palms, Oaks, and Cypresses. The foliage is reflected by an expanse of water in whose gentle ripples are reflected the overhanging trees. For inspiration I travel the many rivers in Florida, in my canoe, sketching when I come upon a scene that may never exist again. In art school, I was tutored in the classical skills of painting and drawing. I feel the schooling helped me to create realistic works of art in graphite with a subtle eye to create not only realism but to bring a graphic vision of the natural world using graphite as it may not have been used before. My art is available as Giclee prints and originals.
I studied art at The New York State University, and the Art Students League of N.Y. As an architectural designer and illustrator in New York City, I subsequently moved to Florida, where I discovered the magnificent beauty of Florida’s’ rivers and landscape. I have been doing “Paintings in Graphite” of Florida’s nature for 20 years. I have had one-man shows in Sag Harbor and New York City. In Sag Harbor, I had the opportunity to do still lives of the interiors of seventeen and eighteen-century homes. I have also done work for the collections of American Express, Bristol Myer, Johnson and Johnson, and Proctor and Gamble. In Florida, I have had many one-man shows such as the Disney Nature Conservancy and the Florida Supreme court in Tallahassee and The Orlando Museum of Art.
