I have made repeated trips down rivers abounding in sub-tropical scenery throughout the state. In views from mid-river, I sought to capture the dimly apprehended mystery that keeps naturalists and travelers coming back to a cove or inlet year after year. In seeking to capture this quality, my pencil drawings, "Paintings in Graphite" have a great sense of warmth, a strong sense of the pull of an enclosure, a deep desire for immersion, and, yet something persists a receding mysteriousness out of reach. The title of "Paintings in Graphite" derives from my studies in classical painting, pencil drawings, and Giclee artwork in Zephyrhills, FL. There is an edition of 99 for each "Paintings in Graphite" available.
